Recent Events: Concerts, FOP, Youth Sunday

Haven’t been blogging lately, was quite busy. well there were a series of concerts recently

Reuben Morgan
Firstly, Reuben Morgan came to Singapore to chc, it was not bad, though the previous one at Emmanuel Assembly was longer and better. He sang the latest “Mighty to Save” and various other older songs. The extended deliverance service by the preacher mike connell was an eye-opener. there was mass prayer and calls.

Festival Of Praise 2006
Then, there was of course, FOP in the following weekend just before national day. Went on friday with kevin and sunday with church people. This year, don moen and christian city church came. not as exciting as last year with hillsong and delirious, but nevertheless, it was good and refreshing. don moen did some very good oldies while ccc rocked the arena. chc brought their giant LED screen which made the two side projectors pretty useless. the moving head lights were as usual quite professionally programmed, wished my church has them =p

Day of His Power Prayer-Concert
On National Day eve, lovesingapore churches gathered together at indoor stadium (again) to pray for the nation and celebrate our 41th birthday. it was quite interesting, the videos and all, although the setup of the stage, lights and camreas were not as professionally done as FOP. however, the service and prayers were good.

Bye AFS, Hello Tengah
The friday after national day was my first day at TAB. The place is quite old and run-down, like some ww2 site! haha. And it is super far from my house too, about 1.5hours and $3 worth per trip. Still considering whether I should stay-in though. I still have a few months of course there before I’m posted to sqn. I do not fly aircrafts, but make aircrafts fly.

Planet Shakers Concert
Friday went to PS with chris dyl, and elisha, ben they all were there too. it was a blast! it was actually themed as ultraviolet – youth party harvest weekend. I loved the visualisation screens at the back of the stage. There were in fact 6 screens on stage, 2 cameras, 3 visualisations and 1 switching between cameras and visualisations. The sound and lights were pretty cool, and planet shakers rocked the expo hall with their latest hits ‘majesty’ ‘redeemer’ and some older ones like ‘always and forever’. however, the service was a bit short, they sang about 7 songs then testimony time, perhaps they mentioned they had jet lag. wished it was longer. people asked for encore but they didn’t respond.

Youth Leaders Meeting
We had a meeting with all the leaders and coordinators at ps whit’s house. it was a series of presentations for the year 2007. as a media coordinator, i was tasked to think and budget for media ministry in YM for next year. it was challenging, and it was intriguing to see all the big plans by the various leaders. I pray that 2007 will be an even greater year for us.

Youth Sunday
The following weekend was Youth Sunday! Throughout the whole of the past 1.5 weeks, I’ve been at home 3 hours every weeknight to rush through the video to be screened on Youth Sunday as a promotional video for YM. So much so that I could not have time to finish the photo montage idea, and josh jr’s com crashed hence cannot help me. You can download the video here. Let me know what you think of it!

Youth Sunday itself was great. Joshua and band led worship after a short introductory video, followed by a mini-offering sermon by Jingxian, then my video, then Alex’s promotion and testimonies by Bryan’s Mum and Ben’s Dad, prayer for all the youths, and finally ps Whitley’s word. I was running around taking photos and videos, together with xavier, benjamin and jacintha, and also guiding mylene on the easislides program. And the part 2 in the afternoon was, of course, BF2 with jere dyl chris and jared.

college day

i decided to go VS and visit the NEWDC Prize Giving first, since I had some time to spare. I reached there at 12+pm and they were having their refreshments. Went straight to the auditorium, didn’t see anyone familiar except mrs foo. haha said hi and exchanged some updates. called derick and found out that he’s actually near the stage. went downstairs, saw mr. you and we shook hands. saw mr edmund goh too. yongfeng and ivan were in the conference room with the judges haha. in fact, yongfeng is a judge himself. lol.

well it took some time before the programme continued. they screened an it club promotional video, which is not bad for a first. interesting. i also found out that the school produced flags for every cca and placed it in the sides of the auditorium. quite cool. there were some hiccups in the prize presentation, but nevertheless, it feels good to be back in VS after soo loong. as mr. you says, he always appreciates when ex-IT Club chairmans come back during competitions and camps.

Next stop, vjc. deja vu as I stepped into the gate, and straight into LT4 (oops I almost forgot where it was). Was a bit early and people only started streaming in. saw joshua chao, alvin, desmond, venkat, weixiang, ashish, prab and a various others. a mini reunion with familiar faces, though not all are very familiar. we sooned moved to the PT and the thing started. mrs chan report was pretty impressive, and then they launched the H3 NAV programme, which was quite interesting, along with an infocomm club introductory video. marcus and i exchanged laughs when mun thye was being interviewed, for he’s an A*STAR scholar. saw jeffrey my work attachment friend, and I was sitting near the house capts, lihui, yong sheng they all.

after I received my service award for icomp, which is essentially a cert and a plaque, the concert began. choir performed 2 pieces which almost seemed like a musical with the drama and all. quite funny. then there was a collaboration piece with CO drums, malay cultural drums and indian cultural drums. innovative. and then it ended with band and of course, the victorian anthem, which I have not sang for months. feels nostalgic to probably sing it for the last time till who knows when.

during the refreshments, I chat with a few teachers including mr. tang, mr domch, mrs chuah etc. then went out with ashish, jin, kenny and colin wee and we played dota!! haha my 3rd time playing and it was quite fun. finally i get to meet and play with my classmates after so long. in fact, I have not met many of my classmates since november! hais…also, yeow may and shu left for melbourne recently. till then…..
