Assignment 2 Draft: Food Whoring

by Colin posted September 26, 2011 category Assignment 2

These series of images were intended to portray the trend of taking photos of food using mobile phones, so much so that the food dishes could have personalities of their own. The keitai phenomena of taking photos everywhere, especially of food in Singapore, has made food into pseudo-profiles with their own persona and style. As much as we take photos of everyday life of other people and ourselves, we also take lots of photos of food, as if they are real people. What if food have their own personality profiles online?

They could have a facebook profile page of their own, with photos that other people took of them be tagged and displayed, and people praising them and giving them reviews on their wall…

Food can also be tagged like any other regular person…

Or tweet about themselves…(a bit of food-self-indulgence?)

Or take photo of themselves…? “camera whoring” => “food whoring”.

One Response to Assignment 2 Draft: Food Whoring

  1. Feedback from Tutorial small group critique:
The last photo is off the series, which I agreed. Penny and Rachel suggested to make a series of social networks instead, with Google+ and LinkedIn. I could use the same food character, e.g. Sushi, and put it up on all the social networks. Good suggestion.
